38,792 players took part 19,795 matches were played 1.28 million points were contested
And after all of that, Team Superstars beat Team All-Stars by just 39 match wins — 9,810 to 9,771.
Our joint Tamworth/Lichfield event was just one small part of that worldwide effort, but with the overall result so close, every match really did count.
A fantastic celebration of squash at every level and another reminder of the momentum building towards the sport’s Olympic debut at LA28.
Huge thanks again to everyone who took part locally and to the Rally28/World Squash Day team for creating such a great global initiative.
More great local media coverage, this time for Tamworth Squash & Racketball Club's brilliant court refurbishment opening event, which doubled up as a World Squash Day match counting towards the score for the global team match, Allstars v Superstars. ... See MoreSee Less
Brilliant to see our Women's Squash Week event and further activities for women players being featured by Lichfield Radio & Echo 👌Dear @followers,
The Lichfield Squash Club was delighted by the response to its Women’s Squash Week in September – so much so that there is now talk of further development in the field!
Club Chairman James Roberts told the Echo that "there were some great rallies going on and, more importantly, lots of smiles and laughter".
Fantastic to see a group of women back in court this evening after attending our Hit, Mix and Mingle event during Women's Squash Week.
They enjoyed a good mixture of cooperative rallying, 3/4 court and singles games.
The most important thing though is that they all had fun and left wanting to come back for more.
We're providing further opportunities to get them back in court on Tuesday evenings throughout October, and new players are always welcome. Just drop us a DM or email [email protected] if you're interested in coming along.
We've also set up a Lichfield Women's Squash WhatsApp group to enable our women players to keep in contact and liaise to arrange games.
This is just the start of developing a thriving community of women squash players in Lichfield! 👏
The line-ups are now set for our joint World Squash Day event with Tamworth Squash & Racketball Club this Wednesday.
Rather than making it a straight Tamworth v Lichfield fixture, we’ve mixed players from both clubs into the two global World Squash Day teams - All-Stars and Superstars - and used SquashLevels to create the closest possible match-ups.
That gives us seven matches across the evening, with every result contributing to the worldwide World Squash Day score.
Match: All-Stars v Superstars for World Squash Day Date: Wednesday 7th October Time: 7.00pm Venue: Tamworth Squash & Racketball Club Format: PAR 11, best of 3 Afterwards: Food and drinks in the bar
The evening will also help mark the grand reopening of Tamworth’s newly refurbished courts, so it should be a great occasion for both clubs.
This year’s World Squash Day is part of the global #Rally28 campaign, bringing together grassroots players, clubs and professional players around the world in the build-up to squash’s Olympic debut at LA28.
Spectators are very welcome, so if you fancy coming along to support the players, see the refurbished courts in action and enjoy the atmosphere, we’d love to see you there.
We’re delighted to announce that The Turnpike Lichfield will be sponsoring our team for the next year.
Since taking over the pub in 2025, Shaun and Lisa Gower have built a strong relationship with the club and have been incredibly supportive of us. The Turnpike has become our regular post-match venue after home fixtures, providing food, drinks and a great place for both teams to unwind after the squash.
Last night was our final Summer League match of the season, a very close 3–2 defeat against Four Oaks, with some excellent squash played throughout. Afterwards, both teams headed to the Turnpike for food and refreshments, exactly the kind of social side of team squash that makes these evenings so enjoyable.
As part of the new sponsorship arrangement, we’ll now be working on a fresh team shirt design featuring The Turnpike as our sponsor.
There’s another nice touch too. As part of the pub’s forthcoming internal refurbishment, Shaun and Lisa are planning a display celebrating the local sports clubs that use the venue. We’ve provided one of our old team shirts, along with a squash racket and ball, which will be framed and put on permanent display once the refurbishment is complete.
A huge thank you to Shaun and Lisa for their support. We’re really looking forward to developing the partnership over the coming season.
And thanks too to Four Oaks Squash Club for a great match last night - very close, very competitive and played in the right spirit.
