Constitution

Our Mission

Our main mission is to provide our members and the wider public in Lichfield and its surrounding areas with the means of playing squash and associated racket sports and to encourage participation in these sports for players of all ages and abilities.

We will also work in partnership with our neighbouring squash clubs and venues to develop the sport, as well as the wider squash community.

Sports like Padel and Pickleball are very much in the ascendancy and open up racket sports to a wider market. We will therefore work alongside, rather than against, these other racket sports to develop squash participation.

Lichfield Squash Club shall be run on a non-profit basis with the benefit for members to have a small cost saving whilst making use of the squash courts at King Edward VI Sports Centre in Lichfield.

We will work alongside the school to manage the squash court facilities, including operating the court booking system. We aim to maximise usage of the courts in order to preserve them into the future.

Membership

Membership of the club is open to all. We will strive to attract a balanced membership of men, women, families and juniors. In particular, we will focus on attracting young people and females to participate in the sport, acquiring squash skills from senior established players and coaches within Lichfield Squash Club.

Costs

The annual fees will be £25 per year for adults and £5 per year for juniors (under 19). Youth participation will be encouraged by offering lower entry barriers in terms of membership fees. Favourable rates will also be offered to those in full time education / training and the unemployed.

England Squash

Lichfield Squash Club is an England Squash affiliated club and abides by its rules, regulations and standards. Our teams will be formed and entered into the county leagues and we will support them to achieve their full potential.

Facilities

Lichfield Squash Club will have access to the facilities of King Edward VI Sports Centre. Booking of courts at King Edward VI Sports Centre can be made on the court booking section of our website and will be at a preferential rate. To qualify for the preferential rate, all players associated with these bookings need to be Lichfield Squash Club members, otherwise a guest fee supplement will apply.

Non-members and guest players can ask to book courts via the club Secretary or Chairman. These will be charged at the full guest rate and payment will be required up front before the court can be booked.

Whilst court bookings at King Edward VI Sports Centre are to be encouraged, matches can be played at other venues within Lichfield District where more convenient for all participants, including Friary Grange Leisure Centre, Burntwood Leisure Centre and Tamworth Squash Club at Hopwas. We will work with the clubs and venue managers based at these locations to encourage greater squash participation.

Digital / Online Presence

The primary method of communication for Lichfield Squash Club will be through our website. Our website will support the fixtures and results of our league, link to our club admin and court booking system MyCourts and provide details of club news and upcoming events.

Club administration, including membership and court booking will be facilitated by our subscription to a system called MyCourts by HBI Consulting Ltd. This will also allow online payments for memberships and bookings using the Stripe payments system.

Lichfield Squash Club will also maintain an active presence on our dedicated Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts.

Skills

We will endeavour to provide coaching programmes to improve the skills of all players at all levels to allow players to achieve their full potential, preferably by England Squash qualified coaches.
